More Physicians - More Space:
Prairie North Health Centre Moves to New Permanent Home
As of next week, Lloydminster and area residents will have greater access to more physicians in expanded, improved surroundings when the Prairie North Health Centre primary health care (PHC) clinic relocates to its new permanent home in the downtown Co-op Plaza.
Prairie North Health Centre will be located in Suite 115 of the site that is itself being renamed Prairie North Plaza. Prairie North Health Region purchased the property in July 2013 and with the generous support of the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation, Alberta Health Services and Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, has developed the primary health care innovation site in a significant portion of the building. Prairie North Health Centre has been serving patients in a temporary location in the plaza since July of last year.
The new Prairie North Health Centre primary health care clinic opens its doors to patients Monday, March 2, 2015. Patients will be able to access the services of seven primary health care physicians, a PHC registered nurse, and a PHC counsellor. Three of the physicians are new to the community within the past month and are taking new patients.
Appointments for all seven Prairie North Health Centre physicians can be made by contacting the primary health care clinic at 306-820-5997. Same day appointments are available. Regular clinic hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Centre also offers walk-in medical services for Lloydminster and area residents Mondays through Thursdays from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., excepting holidays. Prairie North Health Region is exploring opportunities to expand after hours services.
The aim is to improve access to everyday health services for the community and relieve pressure on the Lloydminster Hospital Emergency Room.
The new Prairie North Health Centre includes 17 examination rooms and two procedure rooms. Services will promote a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, linking to other health professionals and programs such as Chronic Disease Management, diabetes education, nutrition services, and more.
Patient parking is available in the refurbished Prairie North Plaza parkade, with access from the 51 Street (north) side of the building. Handicapped parking and elevator access are located on levels 3 and 5 of the parkade.
A grand opening celebration of the new primary health care innovation site will be held at a later date.
