Lashburn in motion Receives Funding
Lashburn in motion is pleased to announce that they have received funding from Saskatchewan in motion to work towards getting the children, youth and families in their community more active. Through a partnership that includes the Town of Lashburn, the Lashburn Rec Board, Prairie North Health Region, North West School Division and concerned community members, Lashburn in motion, despite being a new group, hopes to make a difference in their community.
With the support of funding from Saskatchewan in motion, Lashburn in motion will focus on a number of goals including:
- Increasing public awareness that only 15% of Saskatchewan children & youth are active enough;
- Encouraging families to pledge to take action;
- Engaging youth in physical activity solutions and
- Increasing opportunities for children and youth to be physically active.
Lashburn in motion will be able to work on achieving the goals listed about through several means. A coordinator will be hired to compile and disseminate information on physical activity options in Lashburn. Having all the physical activity options compiled will help Lashburn in motion, the community and youth identify any gaps that might exist. There is also funding available to sport groups who would like to have a ‘try it for free' event to encourage new members to become involved with their sport.
